Firearms Training Resume of Mr. Michael P. Baker

Mr. Baker is a graduate of Gunsite Training Academy (American Pistol Institute) in Paulden, Arizona.  Founded by the noted Colonel Jeff Cooper in 1977, Gunsite is acclaimed one of the most prestigious small-arms training schools in the world.  Col. Cooper is universally credited as the founder of the "Modern Technique of the Pistol" which has now become the foundation of the techniques and tactics taught by most of the better training agencies.  Mr. Baker attended a sequence of progressively advanced training classes at Gunsite Academy from 1987 through 1995.

Mr. Baker attended various advanced firearms classes at Lethal Force Institute (LFI) from 1989 through 1999 taught by the director, Mr. Massad Ayoob. LFI was founded 1981 and is recognized as an influential factor in the arena of firearms training schools. Mr. Baker was subsequently certified as an adjunct instructor for Lethal Force Institute Firearms Training Academy in 1997.

Mr. Baker won election to and served on the Managing Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association (NRA) at NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia from 1996 through 2002.  Along with other duties, he served on the Education and Training Committee and participated in the process of modernizing various NRA firearms training programs.  He is certified as an NRA firearms instructor in several training disciplines, including: Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Personal Protection.

Mr. Baker has served as a coordinator and Assistant Instructor for Morrigan Consulting since 1999.  Morrigan Consulting is recognized as one of the most acclaimed small-arms training organizations in the USA.  Morrigan Consulting primarily conducts classes in various disciplines for law-enforcement agencies but also teaches classes for private citizens, including pistol, carbine, shotgun and sub-machine gun.

Mr. Baker has served as Training Instructor & Chief Range Safety Officer at the Gainesville Target Range,
Gainesville, Florida  since 1999 and regularly teaches an assortment of firearms training classes at that facility.
